Welterweight champion Keith Thurman wants fans to keep talking about a fight that if it comes off, will surely delight the boxing world.
News came earlier this week that Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford has officially moved up to the welterweight division and has become mandatory WBO title challenger for Australian Jeff Horn.
But from a bigger picture perspective, if one sits back and looks at the bigger welterweight division for a minute in American boxing alone over the coming years, things are starting to get really interesting.
The post Mayweather-Pacquiao welterweight era has now well and truly transitioned to the new school, and class is just about to begin for what could be a terrific 147lbs era coming up.
One particular shark pool of four American welterweights could offer some fireworks over the coming years if matched in a combination of fights against one another.
That is of course Keith Thurman, Errol Spence, Danny Garcia and Terence Crawford.
That’s not to forget the likes of Shawn Porter, WBO champion Jeff Horn or other top welterweights like Kell Brook and Amir Khan too of course.
Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman has took to social media to spark fans interest in an Errol Spence Jr showdown in particular:
This is a fight you guys should keep talking about it because when it goes down it will be one of the best fights of this generation! 1️⃣⏰ pic.twitter.com/JcqTVIXO6r

What an amazing fight this would be, in fairness.
With both fighters signed to PBC and managed by Al Haymon one suspects that this should be relateively straight forward to make in the new year, too.
