Deontay Wilder does English accent attempt here of rival and fellow heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua after win.
The old USA vs UK rivalry in boxing looks to be alive and well once again.
After a quiet few years in the heavyweight division – both countries now have world champions again in boxing’s glamour division.
You can tell that rivalries are starting to warm up when accents start to get taken off. All in good fun of course.
Well, straight after he beat Bermane Stiverne last night in the very first round – Deontay Wilder’s first reaction was to call out Anthony Joshua and take off his accent (video below):
“I’ve been waiting on that fight for a long time now A-juicer-J (Anthony Joshua). Listen, mate, I declare war upon you. Do you accept my challenge? Or are you scared? I’ve been waiting for a long time. I know I’m the champion. I know I’m the best – are you up for the test?”
Quiet the comments pertaining to alleged juicing too.
It will be interesting to what Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn’s response will be to that in particular. One thing is for certain, the fight between the two just got a whole lot bigger.
Here’s the video interview above with Wilder’s impression of an English accent and call out of Joshua:
