Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker Heavyweight Title Unification In Play

Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker has come out of left field as a potential heavyweight title unification fight.

The heavyweight division seems to be more alive than ever lately following wins for the likes of Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

But another champion also looms in the Southern hemisphere.

WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker from New Zealand recently won a close points decision over Hughie Fury (cousin of Tyson Fury) in Manchester and has his sights on a unification fight in the new year.

Speaking to Talk Sport, Parker said:

“I think we’re very close. From their side I think they are very interested. From our side we are in it 100%. It’s just about making a deal now and making so everyone is happen. So we can get it on. He’s a great fighter, I believe I’m a great fighter – lets get it on. Lets see who the best is.”

With Tyson Fury’s comeback just around the corner in 2018 and taking into account the overall heavyweight landscape, things could get very interesting next year in boxing’s traditional glamour division.

A new era for heavyweight boxing would undoubtedly be helped by all the champions fighting one another consistently in 2018.

To date, Joseph Parker has compiled a professional boxing record of 24-0-18KO and was involved in boxing’s first time putting on a heavyweight title fight on YouTube pay per view last time out against Hughie Fury:
