“The Jackal” Carl Frampton open to taking on a former pound for pound number one in his next fight in 2018.
The Belfast man is currently in Kenya doing charity work with his wife Christine for reputable charity organisation Trocaire.
Frampton fought earlier this month against Horacio Garcia and recorded a points win over the duration, getting back to winning ways following the first loss of his pro career earlier this year to four-weight world champion Leo Santa Cruz.
Speaking of four-weight world champions, there’s another one that could be on the horizon soon for Frampton – against a man who he shares a lot of mutual respect with over the years too.
Filipino boxer Nonito Donaire suggested the bout to Frampton:
@RealCFrampton Heard our teams have been talking. Cldn’t make this fight b4 bt now no obstacles stand in the way. Greatest respect 4 u as a fighter.C U in the ring wherever U want the fight 2b.#philippines #boxing #boxer #gloves #fight #lasvegas #combatsports #UnitedKingdom pic.twitter.com/4FqcXuE4bQ

With negotiations apparently underway, Frampton enthused about a potential showdown:
Would be a great fight Nonito ?? https://t.co/Vdqcjr3ZPr

What a fight it would be from a fight style point of view. Two warriors who can both fight and box when they need to.
Where it would happen would be the big question.
Frampton wants a stadium fight in 2018, it would be up to Donaire to travel for this to come to fruition.
