Deontay Wilder reveals next opponent being planned and also what Anthony Joshua is planning with Joseph Parker.
The heavyweight title picture is slowly but surely becoming clearer in terms of what is going to happen next in early 2018.
The title holders of Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker are all in negotiations at the moment but what now is clear is that the Joshua vs Parker fight looks favorite for the first of the unification bouts to happen early next year.
This leaves Deontay Wilder most likely to face the winner in the summer or middle of 2018 and speaking to 78sportstv, Wilder revealed who it is he’ll be going for next up in the meantime – as well as letting people know what Joshua and Parker are looking to do:
“I think Joshua and them (Parker) I heard (are fighting) sometime in March (2018). Maybe the end of March, some time in there. I’m ready to go as soon as possible. It would have been a good promotion to fight on the same card maybe him fighting in the day, me fighting in the night. Something like that. But I’ve got to go early though. I’m looking to come back out for Luis Oriz. Why not? The WBC got him back in there and re-instated him. We were supposed to fight before Stiverne. That didn’t happened because obviously what happened with Ortiz. He did what he did.”
He added:
“I really want him. I want to punish him. I want to really punish him.”
As it happens, Luis Ortiz returns to boxing this Friday in fact on a Premier Boxing Champions show just a week on after having the WBC lifting a ban on him.
