Boxer Erik Skoglund will be known to fight fans of the new World Boxing Super Series that he participated in not long ago.
The 26 year old super-middleweight from Sweden recently fought Callum Smith of Liverpool in the quarter-final of the tournament where Smith secured a unanimous points decision victory last September.
It was the first defeat in the professional career of Skoglund who holds a professional record of 26-1 (12KO).
Sad news has been confirmed on the boxer’s health by his promoter who has released the following statement today:

Everyone at Boxing News and Views wishes Erik a speedy recovery and thoughts are with him, his team and family and friends at this difficult time.
Erik holds notable wins over the likes of Glen Johnson and Luke Blackledge in his professional career.
He started his career in the pro ranks as a light-heavyweight fighter but in recent years has found success in the super-middleweight division.
As an amateur he was a Swedish youth champion and senior silver medallist.
As a professional he has captured the IBO light-heavyweight and and European light-heavyweight titles in a bright career to date.
Lets hope his recovery process goes as well as possible over the coming days.
