Lomachenko reacts to Rigondeaux victory in Madison Square Garden and takes it upon himself to give himself a new nickname.
Vasyl Lomachenko walked away with an impressive win this weekend over Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux who he ultimately made quit in their bout.
Rigo cited a hand injury at the time of stoppage but he was getting dominated by Lomachenko at the same time.
After the fight the Ukraine boxing phenom was philosophical in victory for the most part, pointing out that he was a lot bigger than his opponent and didn’t want to take too much credit for the win as a result.
Full of class, here is the Lomachenko post-fight reaction to his win over Rigo:
What’s next for him will be interesting. Whether anyone can test him at super-featherweight where he currently fights is doubtful.
After last night most people will likely be placing him at the top of their pound rankings, one would have thought.
Challenges at lightweight might be next and a showdown with one undefeated Mikey Garcia, closer to him in size – might offer more of a challenge.
Hats off on another fine display.
We could be seeing the start of something very, very special in boxing over the coming years with this fighter.
