Promoter Lou DiBella hits the nail on the end as it were when it comes to what David Lemieux said in his post-fight interview.
It wasn’t meant to be for Canadian David Lemieux last night who was comprehensively out boxed on home soil in Canada by WBO middleweight world champion Billy Joe Saunders.
Saunders returned to his best, really.
Putting on a boxing masterclass throughout the contest and impressed those familiar with what the sweet science is all about.
After the fight however Lemieux said he thought Saunders was “running” during the fight and was less than willing to concede credit to the victor on the night.
American promoter Lou DiBella has reveived a lot of reaction to Twitter in what he thought of Lemieux’s reaction, which many seem to agree with:
Thought that was a pretty delusional, graceless interview by Lemieux after the fight. No, dude, @bjsaunders_ didn’t run, he gave you a boxing lesson AND a beating. SMH! #LemieuxSaunders

A rematch won’t be on the cards anytime soon after such a dominating performance by Saunders – who moves on to possible unification bouts in 2018.
Here is the post-fight interviews from last night with Lemieux’s near the end:
