Anthony Joshua Doesn’t See Joseph Parker as a terribly big threat to him he revealed this Christmas ahead of an expected fight in the new year.
Joshua and WBO champion Parker are thought to be in the very final stages of negotiations for a unification bout next March.
Likely to take place in an outdoor stadium in the UK.
Parker boxed last by winning a points victory over Hughie Fury earlier this year in Manchester, with Joshua boxing last against Carlos Takam in November and scoring a tenth round stoppage win.
Speaking to Thierry Henry on Sky Sports television, Joshua said he’s unsure why he is so confident:
“Parker, I don’t know, it’s unpredictable, because from a fighting perspective I know I can beat him. But he’s now trying to challenge me mentally. The things he’s saying, the way he’s acting. This is out of character.”
He added:
“So I have to reassess Parker. I don’t get where he’s got this lease of confidence, I just don’t get it but I’m going to have to assess Parker because he’s not going to trouble me physically – he’s trying to get to me mentally.”
