Danny Garcia has started the year in outspoken form as he visibly ups his promotional activities ahead of his latest fight with Brandon Rios.
Garcia kicked off the year with a video showing him slapping a woman on the backside telling fight fans that there is going to be a “whole lot of a** whippings” this year.
Well, Brandon Rios February 17th next month in Vegas might have something to say about that.
Speaking to a group of journalists in a media scrum at the fight announcement presser Garcia said in Spanish when translated to English as a message to Rios:
“I’ll break your face.”
He also noted on Rios:
“I like watching the last three fights usually. You can’t teach an old horse new tricks. I’m not saying he’s old but if you’ve been fighting a certain way your whole career that’s basically how you’re going to fight me that night. I’ve been studying his last three fights. Doing a little more tape than usual, and watching my last three fights to see what I can strengthen on. Just getting together a great game plan.”
Garcia last fought against Keith Thurman in March of last year where he dropped a split points decision for the WBA and WBC welterweight titles – so will be looking as this as a springboard back to contention.
You’d have to think. But Brandon Rios is a tough, tough operator. Never to be written off fully.
