The two heavyweight champions have been mooted to fight later in the year but one of them doubts how serious the other one wants it after talks went cold.
Wilder has been calling out Joshua in the media for some time over recent months and a fight between the two was thought to be under discussion for the end of this year.
However not the case according to Anthony Joshua.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Joshua said:
“I was in camp for the last four months and didn’t hear a peep. So I ring Eddie and asked have you heard anything about me fighting Wilder? No. Has he sent over any contract? No. Has there been anything? No.”
He continued:
“I’ve reached out and am serious but I don’t know how serious he is. He mentioned it on live TV so I thought he must be interested so lets see what’s going on I thought – and nothing has been said.”
Joshua must first fight Joseph Parker in a unification fight on March 31st and Wilder also has Cuban Luis Ortiz to worry about next up before any possible clash could be made for later in the year, more than likely towards the end of 2018 if it does happen.
