Liverpool’s David Price will share the same card as Anthony Joshua next up on March 31st and is a very keen spectator in his heavyweight rival’s career.
Price takes on Alexander Povetkin on the same night Joshua takes on Parker and if he can beat the Russian, he knows he might be in the mix for some big fights – including Anthony Joshua.
He knows Joshua however is in the mix for some big fights this year himself – including one with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
Speaking to Sky Sports Price said of a potential fight between the two:
“I think Deontay Wilder could beat him, simply because he’s got a little bit more of an unpredictable side to him as far as his boxing is concerned.”
He added:
“Joshua is more well-schooled, with a hands up defence. But Wilder is massively wild and his speed at long-range could beat Joshua to the punch. I would have them level and obviously Tyson Fury.”
Price famously knocked down Joshua in a now infamous sparring match that happened many years ago before Joshua’s pro career even began.
Since then Price has struggled to maintain form in the pro ranks, suffering a number of stoppage defeats while Joshua has remained unbeaten (20-0-20KO) to date and become heavyweight champion.
