While the world of boxing has been in full flow today following a rather strange Amir Khan press conference, a more low key press conference has also taken place for another fight.
That fight being between Carl Frampton and Nonito Donaire which as fate would have it, will clash on the same night as Amir Khan’s comeback fight in Liverpool on April 21st.
Frampton will take on former Ring Magazine fighter of the year Donaire the same evening in Belfast with his fight going out on BoxNation and BT, Khan’s going out on Sky – head to head with each other.
Khan was involved in a press conference melee earlier where personal family jibes were thrown against him, to which he ended up hurling a glass at his opponent afterwards.
Frampton clearly has taken a subtle dig at the press conference today with the following:
Meanwhile… No hype required #FramptonDonaire pic.twitter.com/H1IQzk682F

Not really that subtle I suppose when you consider he replied directly to Khan’s promoter’s tweet.
A nice bit of marketing from Frampton on his own part, to be fair.
He’s right too, in what he says. No hype required to sell his fight with Donaire – it’s clearly just a smashing bout in every aspect.
If only the broadcasters can figure out a way where the two main events don’t clash on the night, then boxing fans (casual and hardcore) will be happy.
