The World Boxing Super Series returns this weekend in Manchester with arguably the best fight of the new format and competition to date.
Chris Eubank Jr and George Groves will throw down in a much-anticipated super-middlweight battle that many feel could go either way.
Groves, ever the mind games expert, has been subtly throwing daggers at Eubank this week in the final countdown to fight night.
Speaking to the WBSS about Eubank Jr, the man from Hammersmith said:
“The pressure’s on him (Eubank Jr) really. If you can smell fear it must have been his dad standing behind him because he didn’t smell anything from me. I stood up to him and looked down on him. There’s no reason for me to be fearful of Junior.”
He added:
“It’s all spiralled out of control for them to be honest and now it’s sink or swim. When he realises this is super-middleweights. World class super-middleweights. Big guys who know how to punch hard. We’re not going to fall for your gimmicks, you know.”
All the questions will be answered soon enough of course but this writer can’t help but wonder does Groves have a point in terms of the weight and size at play here.
If Eubank Jr were to win though, without doubt he’d become a genuine pay per view star in the UK.
