Chris Eubank has been batting back the social media jibes this week as he ramps up his public push of his son’s fight this weekend with George Groves. He’s even brought a former heavyweight champion’s name into it.
This weekend’s bout for the WBA super-middleweight title between George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr is probably the first relatively big fight of the year in boxing.
Fans are debating it in their droves.
One fan however was not pleased with this comment from Eubank senior ahead of the bout:
— Christopher Eubank (@ChrisEubank) February 13, 2018
He took an exception to the mentioning of Mike Tyson’s name in particular:
@ChrisEubank May I remind you @MikeTyson wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth… he fought to survive not to impress daddy. Don’t go comparing your lad to the GOAT https://t.co/YE8oiaiSQc

Although Eubank senior then went on to claim he did not compare his son to the former heavyweight champion of the world, he basically did in this tweet where he said:
I’m not actually comparing @ChrisEubankJr to @MikeTyson
The point to those who say
St GGs is bigger, M Tyson’s height makes that argument redundant??
& now you mention it, there could be a M. Tysonesk similarity in this performance so don’t blink.
Red Alert?#RefAlert ?? https://t.co/IpoduuOo3W— Christopher Eubank (@ChrisEubank) February 13, 2018
If he is promising a Mike Tyson style knockout of George Groves this weekend by his son fans might be in for a treat.
The fight takes place this Saturday at the Manchester Arena as part of the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series.
