The ring girl debate has been a hot topic in the sport in recent weeks after walk on girls in darts and formula one lost their jobs.
Ring girls have held the round numbers in boxing for God knows how many years.
It’s a tradition in the sport and most promoters in boxing have come out saying that they will not be leaving letting go of the tradition anytime soon.
The issue was even highlighted on a national television show recently in the UK.
A number of walk on girls here passionately defended their right to work:
It was thought that boxing could be the next sport on the list for feminist extremists to try to get walk on girls banned from.
But boxing promoters are having none of it. Neither are the ring girls themselves.
Kalle Sauerland who promotes this weekend’s Groves vs Eubank Jr world title fight has confirmed the following today in response to the debate:
VALENTINES DAY ANNOUNCEMENT: In reaction to the #RingGirlDebate we have reacted by INCREASING our #WBSS ladies from 4 to 6 – welcome @Charl0ttewood and Katie pic.twitter.com/32mXwMpc0l

This weekend’s fight will be shown on Facebook for US boxing fans and ITV Box Office for those in the UK.
