The two will square off this weekend in an interesting battle between former world champions – both looking to use the fight to try to catapult themselves back into the big time.
Devon Alexander had a number of years away from the sport due to personal reasons but made a successful comeback last year and seems to have the love for boxing once again.
In his prime he was always a tricky operator for anyone to deal with.
Alexander still has more than enough tools in his belt to trouble a lot of welterweights if he returns to his best.
He takes on Victor Ortiz this weekend and speaking ahead of the fight he noted:
“This fight is very important to me. This can catapult me back to title contention. If this doesn’t go my way, it’s very bad for my career. If I pull out the win, it could lead to tremendous opportunities for me. This is a do-or-die fight.”
He added:
“I’ve added more power in this camp. But we’ve pretty much kept it typical with that emphasis on really looking good on fight night. It’s just been an all-around good camp. Victor Ortiz can’t bring something that we haven’t seen before.”
The bout will be shown live on Fox this weekend in the US.
