Deontay Wilder’s KO of Luis Ortiz tonight in New York reminded one of why heavyweight boxing can be so good at times.
After a shaky start to the fight, it warmed up nicely.
It had a bit of everything.
Knockdowns, big exchanges, both men displaying heart to survive moments after been badly hurt and ultimately, a dramatic knockout in round ten.
Fight fans have been delighted with what they saw tonight and (for the most part) it would appear WBC heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder has finally earned the credit he has so longed for.
Here is how the boxing world is reacting at the moment to tonight’s big title fight in New York:

I’ve been a huge detractor of Deontay Wilder but today he more than proved himself. He faced some real adversity and despite his lack of technique he passed with flying colours.
