The former heavyweight champion had been in the media recently following comments Wilder made about Mike Tyson but Lewis has paid tribute to the WBC champion tonight.
Those comments pertained to Wilder originally saying he thought he would have beaten a prime Mike Tyson back in the day.
Something Lewis and other boxing greats of the past disagreed with.
However following Wilder’s impressive knockout tonight over Cuban challenger Luis Ortiz, Lennox Lewis has said the following of Wilder:
This fight will do for Wilder what the Klitschko fight did for AJ.He showed heart and composure at the brink of defeat. It only makes me want to see Wilder and Joshua that much more.. but AJ has his own business to take care of. #wilderortiz

Surely Lennox is only speaking on what is on everyone’s mind.
A fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder would be absolutely gargantuan for the sport of boxing as a whole.
Two undefeated, explosive heavyweights who have shown heart and determination to get to this point.
Both now world champions.
Joshua must first come through a unification bout with WBO champion Joseph Parker later this month on March 31st however.
