Former pound for pound number one boxer Floyd Mayweather was reported to be interested in taking an MMA fight in the UFC recently. Now it has emerged that there could be some merit behind the reports.
Most thought Mayweather (50-0 as a boxer) was simply looking for publicity on social media with his links to fighting Conor McGregor in MMA, and other opponents recently.
But one man has now revealed that the rumours are indeed true.
UFC fight Tyron Woodley speaks here to TMZ YouTube (hat tip) about what Mayweather’s current plans are and that he is training him, according to TMZ Sports:
Mayweather’s last outing in the boxing ring came back in August when he stopped Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor inside the distance in their bout in Las Vegas.
Following the fight Mayweather promised he was then retired from the boxing ring.
In the months that have followed both him and McGregor have continued to jab one another on social media with different disparaging remarks.
McGregor recently said however that Mayweather is no longer interested in a rematch with him.
Away from the boxing ring and fight world, Mayweather now runs a strip club in his hometown of Las Vegas known as ‘Girl Collection’.
