Promoter Eddie Hearn might be new in the US boxing market but American journalists were not letting him off the hook easily after this weekend’s world title fight.
Hearn’s fighter Scott Quigg suffered a broken nose on route to a unanimous points loss to featherweight champion Oscar Valdez this weekend.
Going into the fight Quigg had missed weight by almost three pounds but afterwards revealed a foot injury prevented him from shedding the final pounds.
This issue was pressed thoroughly by boxing reporter Steve Kim as Hearn gave his reaction to the media following his fighter’s defeat:

Kim had a fair point in many regards but you could also understand where Hearn was coming from at the same time.
Ultimately Quigg had to forgo 20% of his purse for missing weight and it didn’t help him get the winner either, in the end.
Valdes was just the better fighter on the night and it’s hard to see how a rematch would turn out any different in all fairness.
