Canelo Alvarez has received a temporary ban from the Nevada State Athletic Commission ahead of his huge showdown with Gennady Golovkin on May 5th in Las Vegas.
Lance Pugmire of the LA Times reported the news on Friday and since then – it has raised doubts if the fight will definitely go ahead of not as the Commission will meet again on April 7th to decide on Canelo’s fate following a failed recent drugs test where he and his promoters cited contaminated meat as the reason for the adverse test result.
One suspects the fight will still go ahead though and at any rate, Canelo will need to continue his training regime in the expectation that it will.
