Amir Khan returns to the boxing ring next week for the first time since been knocked out cold by Canelo Alvarez a couple of years ago at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Since then Khan has went through and overcame a number of personal issues outside the ring and most recently had a successful run on a reality TV show in the UK where he came across well and seemed to win over a lot of new fans.
Now however it’s back to business for Khan who takes on Phil Lo Greco next week in Liverpool but Khan is still smarting from defeat a couple of years ago to Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez.
Canelo recently failed a drugs test which caused his rematch with Gennady Golovkin to be called off and speaking to The Telegraph, Khan said the following of his own bout with Canelo a couple of years back:
“I’m not saying he was on something when I fought him, but you could see he’d put on a lot of weight. I hope he was clean when I fought him, he’s always going to say he was clean. Only God knows.”
A subtle jab at Canelo without doubt.
Canelo will learn his fate later this month when he goes before the NSAC to find out if he will receive a suspension from the sport or not.
