Tyson Fury it has emerged reached out to his heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua himself in a bid to cut through all the promoters and make the fight between the pair of them.
It’s not uncommon for Fury to take a direct approach to his business dealings in boxing, very much his own man who behind the scenes has a solid grasp of how the business works.
However in his heart of hearts he surely knows a fight with Anthony Joshua is a bit away just yet with 2019 being much more realistic for the fight to take place.
Nonetheless before signing with new promoter Frank Warren Fury was talking to everyone – including Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn.
Hearn told Kugan Cassius of IFL TV that Fury reached out to Joshua directly recently:
“So he phoned Josh and Josh called me. He was like, ‘Fury’s been calling me.’”
He added:
“And then he text Josh and said, ‘look, just sign now, let’s do it. Let me have these four fights and then sign now for 50-50.’”
Fury instead made the move to sign with promoter Frank Warren and will make his comeback on June 9th at the Manchester Arena against an opponent to be confirmed.
