Gervonta Davis knocks out Cuellar to capture the WBA super-featherweight world title in a near punch perfect display of uppercuts, body shots and straight lefts down the pipe.
Davis had the basics down masterfully tonight. Some exquisite boxing at times.
Gervonta Davis looked on top form overall as he stopped Jesus Cuellar inside the distance at the Barclays Center in New York.
Early on into the fight the foot work and punch variation of Davis proved a cut above, dropping Cuellar in round two with a perfectly placed left hand to the body.
Davis’ stellar work continued in the third and dropped Cuellar again with a painful body shot – followed by a straight punch down the middle.
After another onslaught from Davis putting Cuellar down the referee called the bout off:

Davis improved his record to 20-0-19KO with his impressive win tonight.
Training under new coach Kevin Cunningham he looked a fighter rejuvenated after losing his title on the scales last year.
Moving away from his hometown of Baltimore and going with Cunningham proved to be the perfect move for this fighter.
