Tony Bellew’s fight opinions continue to gain more and more traction week after week it seems on social media with boxing fans. His unfiltered, brutally honest approach to post-fight analysis seems to resonate with fans – whether they agree or disagree.
The Liverpool heavyweight is in final preparations for his May 5th rematch with David Haye but was a keen spectator of Amir Khan’s comeback fight last night.
Khan ultimately battered Canadian Phil Lo Greco inside of 40 seconds in the very first round – setting up a possible Kell Brook showdown at long last (later in the year potentially).
After the fight last night Bellew said:
“Amir is the quickest fighter I’ve ever been around in my lifetime.. I remember being on a squad with him as amateurs and the word that I think of as soon as I see Amir is RAPID! Him and Kell is a brilliant fight! Only way to beat speed like that is timing!”
He makes a solid point to be fair.
Brook has been consistent in his belief over the years that his timing beats Khan’s speed – but Khan’s timing isn’t exactly shoddy either at the same time.
Following the fight both men’s promoter Eddie Hearn said that while the fight will not happen next up but it is his intention to make it towards the end of the year.
Or early next year.
