Amir Khan’s knockout in the first round of Phil Lo Greco last night while highly impressive might have gone to his head a tad – in terms of calling out fighters in a completely different universe to Lo Greco – with all due respect.
One such welterweight is of course Errol Spence Jr.
The IBF champion at 147lbs who last year traveled to England to stop Kell Brook in his hometown of Sheffield to rip the title away from him and bring it back to the States.
Straight after Khan’s demolition job of Lo Greco last night Khan met old rival Kell Brook in the ring – whom both intimated wanted a piece of one another.
In the post-fight press conference however Khan didn’t rule out other fights and also called out the likes of Adrien Broner and Errol Spence.
Speaking to Fight Hype Errol Spence reacted to this by saying:
“That’s crazy (laughs). Khan needs to fight Kell Brook.”
He makes a lot of sense.
The biggest fight for Khan, and indeed Brook – is one other.
The winner facing Spence would carry more logic to it, surely.
Although it’s hard to see Brook going back to the welterweight limit again.
Unless Spence moves up in weight down the line to do the rematch.
