The heavyweight landscape has been well and truly shaken up this weekend as its two current champions speak to one another directly in a positive manner about making the biggest fight in boxing.
Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder hold all the heavyweight belts at the moment and a meeting of the two knockout artists in the ring this year would mark the biggest heavyweight title fight between a Brit and American since Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson.
WBC champion Wilder sent the following to Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn:
.@anthonyfjoshua Mate! I sent this personally this time just so there’s no miscommunication. Tell @EddieHearn to let you personally check his email this time. BTW I sent Your manager Rob McCracken the email as well. I’m looking forward to our meeting in the ring. #KingVsKing pic.twitter.com/WbH8SB5Qm5

Following this video, Joshua’s officially verified Instagram account had a message that seemed to agree to what Wilder said:
We spoke with Wilder’s manager last night Shelly Finkel who told us Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn have until the end of the day today to accept it or not.

At any rate, this is the most positive few days in the negotiations so far.
A very real chance of this fight getting made now exists over the next week or so one suspects.
