Tony Bellew has upped the mind games in some fashion ahead of this weekend’s rematch with his old nemesis David Haye.
Mind games were a huge part of the first fight where in the opinion of many – Bellew got under the skin of Haye to his benefit.
This time around it appears that Haye is not biting on any of the insults been hurled his way by Bellew.
Although Haye’s new trainer is not taking the same approach.
At the Liverpool press conference for the fight this week Haye’s new coach Ismael Salas bit at Bellew a couple of times for remarks he made about Haye’s conditioning and ability to go the full twelve rounds.
At one point even shouting at Bellew:
“Shut up!”
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Bellew made a big claim about Haye and Salas’ relationship in the first place:
“And, I honestly don’t believe he actually likes David Haye. I’m told he doesn’t like the way he speaks to him and he degrades him, but you know, some people will do anything for money.”
Ismael Salas is regarded as one of the best technical trainers in boxing today.
It will be interesting to see what changes or improvements Haye has made during this past year working under his guidance come Saturday night.
