Boxing News and Views’ Peter Wells is back this weekend ahead of this big fight taking place and gives his official David Haye v Tony Bellew prediction.
To start off the weekend’s picks on the British scene is the fight that the country will be transfixed to in bars and their living rooms.
The bitter rivalry between Haye and Bellew 29-2-1(19KO’s) has spilled into a rematch following the injury that Haye 28-3(26KO’s) suffered in an 11th round stoppage defeat early last year.
It feels like the swansong now for both fighters, and in their respective careers they have produced more than enough to deserve a standing ovation as they near the end.
Both have come over as marmite characters, but they have provided action both in and out of the ring, and both have achieved much in the squared circle.
In a fight with so little on the line for both boxers, it comes down to the small consolation prizes that offer extra motivation here.
And if the countless injuries hold up for Haye – and that is a huge if – his quest for revenge should provide enough of a lift for Haye to stop Bellew this time around – in the 7th.
