Undefeated lightweight Teofimo Lopez might have well and truly announced himself tonight following an impressive display and rather unique post-fight celebration live on ESPN.
The very first round was enough to see Lopez crush opponent Vitor Jones Freitas in stunning fashion in front of a rapturous audience at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Although Lopez has done well in his pro career thus far, tonight on such a big stage might have been his standout win to date.
A crippling right hand closed the show (hat tip Michael Benson):

The win moves Lopez’ record to 9-0-7KO.
The fight tonight was part of the undercard ahead of the Vasyl Lomachenko vs Jorge Linares main event scheduled to take place later on.
Also on the card at present is Irish prospect Mick Conlan.
