Tyson Fury earlier in the week made a bold threat against Liverpool heavyweight Tony Bellew if they ever meet in the ring.
The pair have been going back and forth in the media with one another for some time now but Fury recently said that if the pair ever meet that he would not want to fight him, as he would not want to properly hurt a cruiserweight like Bellew.
This despite Fury’s next opponent on June 9th being a former cruiserweight himself.
Much smaller than Bellew, too.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV – Bellew seemed positive about a potential fight happening between the two and responded to Fury’s recent threat by saying:
“Someone told me he said he doesn’t want to fight a cruiserweight yet he’s fighting a smaller cruiserweight than me? So it’s very funny. Oh was it a heartfelt warning (from Fury)? I love Tyson Fury he knows I do, but I would definitely punch him in the face with ten ounce gloves on, really hard, and I would definitely punch him harder than Steve Cunningham did. We both know. We all know that.”
On his chances in the fight, Bellew added:
“I like that fight.”
Bellew recently stopped David Haye inside the distance for the second time and is now looking for his next opponent.
Fury will return to the ring on June 9th for the first time in two and a half years and will box in his hometown at the Manchester Arena.
