Irish middleweight Spike O’Sullivan has let slip some very substantial news for boxing fans today that will surrounding a possible Golovkin vs Canelo rematch later this year.
O’Sullivan was linked previously with a fight against Canelo Alvarez should the rematch with Gennady Golovkin fall apart.
But even more recently Billy Joe Saunders has also been linked with a possible fight against either Canelo or Golovkin should talks collapse.
Saunders pulled out of a fight with Martin Murray later this month citing an injury.
Talks were reported to have not been going well recently for the Golovkin vs Canelo rematch as arguments over the split of the purse emerged, so quite a lot is going on behind the scenes at the moment at 160lbs.
However speaking on social media today O’Sullivan said he understands the big fight that everyone wants is taking place, with him on the undercard:
Your correct Michelle but as far as I’m aware the fight between GGG & Canelo will go ahead and i’ll be on the undercard and i’ll fight the winner once I win my fight

Happy days indeed.
If the Golovkin vs Canelo rematch were not to happen it would come as a rare big let down in the sport this year – in what is otherwise an excellent time where big fights are being made left, right and center.
