One of the most exciting heavyweight fights from a style point of view that can be made in the heavyweight division has been made. Both former WBO champion Joseph Parker and current contender Dillian Whyte are revved and ready to go ahead of their showdown.
Both know that a win on July 28th in London’s 02 Arena propels them likely into a huge world title fight with the likes of Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder.
The loser goes back in the queue however and particularly for Parker it’s risky.
As it would represent back to back losses if he were defeated.
Parker’s promoter Dave Higgins certainly believes that the winner of the fight goes on to big things:
“The winner I think is in pole position for a rematch with Anthony Joshua at some point in the future.”
Parker said of Whyte:
“I feel like it’s going to be an explosive fight. I’ve seen him fight. I respect him as a fighter and he looked tremendous in his last fight. He sent me a message on Instagram saying he wants to go to war – so let’s make it happen.”
Indeed, the two’s fight styles leads one to believe that a barnstormer awaits on July 28th.
Last time out Parker chose to box more than brawl however when he fought against Anthony Joshua but to his credit, he’s not taking an easy fight straight off the back of that loss.
He’s stepping straight back in with a dangerous foe in Dillian Whyte – so kudos to him for that.
