Promoter of Anthony Joshua Eddie Hearn has responded to the social media statement from Deontay Wilder saying he accepts the offer presented to him to fight Joshua in the UK later this year.
Just when it looked like it was Alexander Povetkin next up for Joshua a last-minute spanner was thrown into those works.
In a good way that is.
The heavyweight super fight between Joshua and Wilder looked more likely for early next year but Wilder has now accepted Joshua’s proposal of fighting in the UK.
Now it is over to promoter of Joshua – Eddie Hearn to send the contract to Wilder.
Speaking on Sky Sports Eddie Hearn said:
“We’ve got to get to the bottom of it all today. One thing I can tell you is by the end of this week, Deontay Wilder will have a contract in front of him and we’ll see if he’s real.”
Great news, surely.
It seems that all that is left now is for Hearn to send the contract and Wilder to sign unless there was something in the contract that Wilder was not happy about.
But, in principle, the fight looks like a goer for either September or October in the UK.
