Legendary boxing promoter Frank Warren remembered one night in particular following news today that Haye has retired from boxing.
Promoter Frank Warren has promoted some of the best fighters to ever come out of the UK over the years.
The likes of Prince Naseem Hamed and Ricky Hatton spring to mind straight off the bat, but he also promoted large shows involving Mike Tyson when he came to the UK during his career.
Following Warren hearing of Haye retiring today the legendary promoter said:
Congratulations to @mrdavidhaye on a fantastic career. Delighted to work with him on some of his biggest nights in the sport including this very special one at a rainy but electric Upton Park. All the best for the future David. pic.twitter.com/hwQ0nh5vwz

That night was of course the night Haye knocked out Dereck Chisora after one of the more colorful build ups to a boxing match when Haye and Chisora first clashed outside the ring in a press conference brawl in Germany.
Yes, Haye will leave many memories both in and out of the ring in his legacy but on the whole, he’ll certainly go down as Britain’s best cruiserweight ever and surely one of the top fighters in his prime to come out of the UK during his particular era.
