If there is such a thing as transfer deadline in the sport of boxing, perhaps today’s 12pm noon deadline for Golovkin to accept a Canelo rematch is the closest thing to it.
Something tells me that neither Golovkin or his promoter Tom Loeffler will be rushed into anything and now that Canelo’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya has started tweeting at Golovkin today, I’m not feeling very confident in this fight happening.
At all to be honest.
That said, anything can happen in boxing. As we all know!
It is the biggest fight out there for both men, by far, so you would have thought somewhere along the lines that common sense would have prevailed.
De La Hoya has now tweeted at Golovkin again, saying:
@canelo wants it, @goldenboyboxing wants it, the media want it, fans want it. Paging @gggboxing. #whereisggg

t-minus two hours. Somehow I think @eddiehearn @frankwarren_tv and Al Haymon won’t be as difficult to reach as @gggboxing #whereisggg

Those tweets have brought about, well, an avalanche of abuse towards the former world champion from many fans:
You’re flapping lad

Some cheek oscar. The purse should he 50/50 or 60/40 in GGG favour. You’re trying to make it look like GGG is scared or something. Canelo couldn’t beat him with dodgy handwraps, as well as being on juice.

Give him a fair deal and stop dressing up as women

So he can make y’all look silly again…

Admired you as a fighter but as a promoter, it’s starting to get Disgraceful!
