Josh Kelly Wins Commonwealth Title Inside The Distance, Opponent Reported To Have Suffered Bad Injury

Josh Kelly continued his march through the paid ranks with another solid win tonight in Newcastle.

Kelly stopped opponent Kris George in the 7th after George retired at the end of the round.

Early on Kelly was less than impressive however, deciding to dance around the ring at points and showboat which allowed George to land some decent shots.

Particularly in round 4.

As the fight wore on however Kelly picked up his work rate and the difference in speed of hand and foot was blinding in comparison to his Australian counterpart at times.

Kelly then closed the show in round seven after George’s team pulled him out after a number of hard right hands sunk in.

The victory was the seventh of Kelly’s pro career thus far and improved his record to 7-0-5KO.

After the fight it was reported that George could have possibly broken his jaw in the third round.

Making the fact he lasted another four even all the more impressive.

As well as winning the Commonwealth welterweight title tonight Kelly also captured the WBA international belt at 147lbs.
