Gennady Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez had Canelo in his training camps with Golovkin in the past but sees changes in the Mexican boxing star since then.
The fight is now on for a second time in September and there seems like a genuine feel of bad blood between the two camps at the moment.
Speaking at a press conference Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez spoke of how in his view Canelo has changed since he first met him:
“He was in my training camp probably about six years ago. He spent three different training camps in my camp and as Gennady would say, he was a different kind of person. He was a very humble, nice kid. It seems today that his riches have made him a different person. He’s a very good fighter, he’s an exceptional fighter. He’s doing a lot for the boxing in Mexico but as fast as they go up, you meet the same people you stepped on the way up on the way down. I think that his persona today is diva like sometimes. His actions, what he does and what he doesn’t do are hurting him.”
The two boxers will not meet until fight week due to the two not wanting to be in one another’s company.
