Boxing fans are a hard bunch to please at the best of times, so we are, but in the grand scheme of things today’s choice of opponent for Fury is in and around what most expected to be fair.
Fury blasted out initial comeback opponent Sefer Seferi with ease earlier this year in what was Fury’s first fight in nearly 1000 days.
In that time Fury had ballooned in weight and had multiple personal issues.
It was understandable he wouldn’t be taking on a world beater in his first fight back.
Today’s news of Italian Francesco Pianeta for his second fight back next month on August 18th in Belfast is probably the right fight at the right time in his comeback, with the third fight this year likely against a top ten contender or relatively dangerous foe after that.
Here’s how boxing fans have been reacting to the news:
Decent step up from Seferi.

Is he a plumber or bin man?

He lost to Klitschko 5 years ago. He lost to Kevin Johnson last year. Be honest with the punters.

Another embarrassing fight for a guy mouthing off about being the best whilst promoting himself off the names of Joshua and wilder ???
