Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is pleased with how Liverpool heavyweight Tony Bellew’s career has gone but still believes some big fights are out there for him.
Bellew shocked the world in his last two fights with back to back stoppage wins over David Haye but now finds himself at a crossroads in his career as to whether he will box on or not.
Speaking to Spencer Fearon on the Toe to Toe Podcast, his promoter Eddie Hearn said:
“Getting back to what’s next for Tony Bellew – possible retirement. Possible retirement. I think there’s three fights. Tyson Fury, which isn’t coming anytime soon. Andre Ward, and the other one who wants it is Adonis Stevenson up at cruiserweight.”
He continued:
“They’re the three options for him. He likes the idea of the Stevenson fight because he wants to do a job on him (in a rematch) and get the return win. I think at cruiserweight he’s the favorite. The Ward fight I love for him because I think Tony’s size can make for the definite, not mismatch of skill, but Ward is a genius. And the Fury fight I love because I think Tony can win that fight.”
All three are big fights, no doubt, but the Fury fight is surely the biggest fight in terms of interest overall.
