The Manny Pacquiao purse vs Matthysse tonight has not been officially declared ahead of the bout but based on information available we can make a reasonable assumption pertaining to his rough earnings tonight.
Money makes the world go round as they say and when it comes to professional boxing, there’s perhaps no more of a money-driven sport out there.
Pacquiao has been involved in some of the biggest fights in history.
Namely his bout with Floyd Mayweather which still to this day holds the record (in the USA) for most pay per view buys and money generated for a single fight.
Tonight in Malaysia won’t be on that level for him of course but he’s set up his own promotional company which should allow him to hold on to a higher percentage of the revenues compared to usual.
While not officially disclosed, Pacquiao’s long time business adviser Michael Koncz let slip to the Philippine Star that his man will earn more than any of his three fights since his mega pay-day with Mayweather.
Based on calculations of those fights and taking other factors into account, it is expected that Pacquiao will at least earn $20 million for tonight’s work against Lucas Matthysse for the WBA ‘Regular’ welterweight title.
Not too shabby for a night’s work.
Should he win the fight potential bouts against the likes of Vasyl Lomachenko, Amir Khan and Terence Crawford await at the end of the year.
