Manny Pacquiao is renowned for his kindness and empathy over the years, to the point where he’s given away millions of his own personal money to people in his country.
But his generosity even extends to his rivals it would appear.
Going into the fight this weekend with Lucas Matthysse there was clearly a lot of mutual respect between both fighters and camps.
Trainer to Lucas Matthysse, Joel Diaz, was intimately familiar with Pacquiao previously having trained Timothy Bradley in the past to face him.
Just before the fight started last night, one journalist on Twitter Erika Montoya pointed out here how Pacquiao obliged his opponent’s coach with a signature of his guitar:
No hard feelings entre #TeamPacquiao y #teamMatthysse
Joel Diaz, entrenador de La Máquina, tras escuchar al referi dar las últimas indicaciones en el locker de Pacquiao, le pidió al filipino que le firmara su guitarra pic.twitter.com/szbrdYWNCF

Translation to English:
“Joel Diaz, coach of La Máquina, after hearing the referee give the last indications in Pacquiao’s locker, asked the Filipino to sign his guitar.”
Perhaps you’d only see Manny Pacquiao signing the guitar of a trainer to a man getting ready to get in the ring to do him serious harm.
Pacquiao ultimately closed the show inside of seven rounds last night and some big fights will now present themselves at the end of the year if he so chooses to take one.
Time will tell, but if I were a betting man, I think we’ll see him box again before the end of the year.
