The new Manny Pacquiao promoter announcement could be just around the corner after it emerged earlier today from one promoter that Pacquiao is a free agent with his team are actively looking at new deals in the boxing market for him.
His team it has emerged have been talking to different people in boxing in terms of exploring new opportunities for Pacquiao in the US and outside of Asia where he now operates his own promotional outfit, MP Promotions.
MP Promotions staged his recent 7th round TKO win over Lucas Matthysse in Malaysia.
Pacquiao indicated after the win that he’d like to have at least two or three more fights in his boxing career.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport indicated that he had been speaking to Pacquiao’s team already:
“I had an initial conversation with him, his team sorry. I think they are just fishing around right seeing what’s on the table. I think they are a free agent. They want a huge amount of money. If that’s possible for (Amir) Khan or (Kell) Brook to fight in the US then we’ll see.”
Pacquiao has boxed with current promoter Top Rank (headed by Bob Arum) for the vast majority of his pro career and ever since he first boxed in the US.
It will be interesting to see if he renews a new deal on ESPN with them or if he looks to move somewhere else.
