This punch erased all the negativity, bad decisions and ups and downs of Dereck Chisora’s boxing career in recent years and firmly put him back on the map of landing big fights once again.

Carlos Takam showed his pedigree when he pushed Anthony Joshua hard last year.

So for Chisora to shine against him the way he did, definitely puts him back in the heavyweight mix.

Often a hard to understand, strange character, Chisora over the years has been involved in more outside the ring headlines than inside the ring ones.

But his boxing ability and gigantic heart were what won him the plaudits this weekend with this right hand likely to be watched over and over again by many a boxing fan in the coming weeks:

Boxing, one of the few sports out there particularly in the heavyweight division, where someone’s career can be on the brink and turned around literally in the blink of an eye.

After the fight last night promoter Eddie Hearn mentioned that he will be contacting WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder’s team to offer them Chisora for his immediate next fight up before potentially boxing against Joshua next April.
