Its been exactly a year since UFC president Dana White shared the first of what became a series of leaked video clips of former world boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi and UFC superstar Conor McGregor sparring ahead of McGregor’s fight with Floyd Mayweather.
Irishman McGregor would ultimately lose that fight inside the distance a month later in Las Vegas.
But his online social media war with Paulie Malignaggi must have dragged on for nearly six months after.
Well, fast forward another six months and McGregor was keen not to let the anniversary date go unnoticed to New Yorker Malignaggi:
Time flies when you are on your ass. https://t.co/YDhLHi2p0o

Of course, Paulie had a rebuttal:
Dude has had 2 kids and an ass kicking since this and he still lives off a fake knockdown that he knows wasn’t real lol. @TheNotoriousMMA your feelings are still hurt? Dont get ur feelings hurt u lil bitch its still our lil secret. Dont run for your life when they ring the bell? https://t.co/cW0q13USYm

@TheNotoriousMMA dont let the inner bitch in u come out. We all know ur gonna pull out the Khabib fight last minute or spend the whole fight runnin 4ur life like u did in rd 5 of the Diaz rematch. U have No BALLS and u think of me 1 yr on cause the reality of my words burns u ?

There was debate after the Mayweather vs McGregor fight that the Irishman might have another boxing match after.
This time against Malignaggi.
Since then however a lot has happened for McGregor outside the ring, and then some.
Instead, he makes his return to the UFC for the first time in nearly two years this coming October.
