A video has emerged of a sparring session between former world champion Fernando Vargas’ son and another young man behind closed doors in a boxing gym.
Sparring at a young age always has to be monitored carefully in that two fighters are matched relatively evenly, where possible, so that one is not outclassed and injury risked.
The following video is coming in for a lot of heat at the moment that shows Vargas failing to stop the spar and allowing one young man to get knocked out:

Leading professional fighters, among fans, were not impressed with Fernando Vargas for not stepping in:
It’s one thing taking liberties in sparring it’s another thing to post a video ? https://t.co/GLnJbRDkpg

That’s terrible man. Hit a kid (who looks outclassed to begin with) with 15 unanswered shots after he’s already clearly been hurt… Great coaching

That kind of crap is tough to watch. Not what sparring is supposed to be.

Disgraceful unnecessary abuse. The coaches in that gym should be ashamed of themselves. Posting this on twitter as though its a teachable moment is pathetic & narcissistic . This is not what boxing is about.
