Amir Khan is highly touted as a potential Manny Pacquiao opponent but isn’t chasing the fight, rather, he’s letting his promotional team pursue it and has commented on how he will take whatever fight comes his way at the end of the year.
Khan takes on Samuel Vargas next month in the UK and should he win, a big December fight is being lined up for him.
The Kell Brook showdown is one fight being looked at but a Manny Pacquiao fight isn’t out of the question either.
Pacquiao is still trying to find a new promoter at the moment but has mentioned December 2nd as a planned date for his next fight.
Some have suggested that Floyd Mayweather could sign Pacquiao to his promotional company and even look to do a rematch with Pacquiao next year.
Speaking to EsNews, Khan said he doesn’t see it happening however:
“Yeah Floyd is retired (it won’t happen). I think it still would be a fight that people would want to see because Floyd has been inactive, Manny been in the ring, training and stuff, looking good in his last fight against Matthysse. Maybe. But it’s what Mayweather wants really. He’s the A-Side. He beat Manny. Can’t see it happening, no. Can’t see it happening.”
Mayweather and Pacquiao originally fought back in May of 2015 in what although was the biggest fight of all time financially, turned out to be an underwhelming bout in the ring.
