Could Pacquiao Drop Down From Welterweight For Next Fight

Many of the names Manny Pacquiao is linked with next up are fully fledged welterweights but certain fights he’s been linked with it’s highly unlikely they could be made at 147lbs.

Pacquiao has been campaigning at welterweight for a while now.

So long in fact it’s hard to believe the 39 year old once competed over six weight divisions lower and even one higher, on route to his world titles in a remarkable eight different weight classes.

‘Pacman’ has been linked with possible fights against the likes of Vasyl Lomachenko and even Mikey Garcia more recently.

Both men campaign below the welterweight limit and likely would ask for a catchweight with Pacquiao if either of them were to fight the Filipino boxing great.

Could Manny Pacquiao actually drop down at this point in his career, at this late stage of the game?

Of course he could.

He’s not exactly a big welterweight and with strength and conditioning expert Justin Fortune by his side, its something he could do.

But would he want to, though? I think that’s the main question.

He would be by far the bigger name in fights against the above two fighters and most surely would be the A-Side in negotiations.

He’s 39 now and has been comfortable at the welterweight limit for some time.

It’s not likely he’d like to give any advantage away to either of the above two in the negotiations.
