The Groves vs Smith time of fight is an interesting one this time around with the bout taking place all the way over in Jeddah on September 28th. But the tournament’s organizers have clarified proceedings a few weeks out to let those in the West know what time it will kick off.
It’s the first notable fight in Jeddah this boxing writer can ever remember and what a fight it is too.
The final of the World Boxing Super Series super-middleweight division was in doubt for a while with Groves’ shoulder injury thought to be too severe in terms of giving the fight enough time to take place within the required time frame.
That’s the problem with formats like this, as fun as they are and as well received as the WBSS has been in year one, back up plans for injuries to fighter have to be taken to an absolutely meticulous level due to the nature of the format.
All is well however and on the final goes with a last-minute press conference announcing it a few days ago.
If you are in the UK for the fight the confirmed time of ring walks for Groves vs Smith will be at 9pm.
That works out as 1pm in the afternoon on September 28th on the West coast of the US, 4pm in the East.
Next season’s World Boxing Super Series has been confirmed for the DAZN platform for American boxing fans.
